The Two Gears: Defense & Offense

Most trading bots know exactly one trick, and they bleed the moment the market changes mood. Your Node is different: it runs a two-gear engine that reads the market’s regime continuously and shifts gears on its own. This is the same brain that runs our flagship vaults.

Low gear — Defense

Most of the time, markets have no strong trend — they chop sideways. A one-trick bot loses money guessing in this environment. In low gear, your Node refuses to gamble. Instead it builds a hedged, price-neutral position: it buys the coin in your Spot pocket and simultaneously shorts the same amount in your Perps pocket. The two cancel out, so price can go up, down, or nowhere — you’re not exposed to the direction at all. What you are doing is collecting funding income (the next lesson explains exactly how). Defense that earns.

High gear — Offense

The moment our regime engine confirms a genuine trend — not a flicker, a real move — the defense unwinds itself in seconds and your full capital goes directional and leveraged in the direction of the trend. Crucially, it rides that move with a profit-trailing exit: once you’re in a real gain, the exit follows the price up and banks the win instead of letting it ride all the way back to zero.

Why “confirmed” matters

The single most expensive mistake a trading bot makes is churning — flipping in and out constantly, paying a fee every time, until fees eat all the profit. Your Node’s engine deliberately waits for a trend to persist before it commits money, and it holds a position until the trend genuinely turns. Fewer, better trades. You never have to touch a thing — the gear-shifting is fully automatic, day and night.
